ahara Al Jinan is an award winning performance troupe, located in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico. Three family members make up the core of this impressive group. Rozana al Jinan acts as the artistic director and choreographer, Ara is a recognized wig and mask artist and Fa’iz is an unparalleled martial artist. All the members of this group are professionals in their fields of expertise. All are consummate performers.

Zahara al Jinan pulls talent from another troupe directed by Rozana, Anwaar al Jinan. Anwaar is also an award winning troupe made up of Rozana’s most skilled students. They have performed with Zahara on stage at Floralia, Oriental Potpourri, Amaya’s Shake and Bake, Los Hermanitos Fundraiser and they were featured performers, along with Rozana and Fa’iz, at the US Body Painting Festival in 2007.

Zahara Al Jinan delves into different aspects of dance and the martial arts to achieve an interesting and exciting choreography. Every dance number is a work of art. They always seek a higher standard for performance. It's not just a dance, every performance is a production. This ensemble works to entertain not only an audience that is familiar with Middle Eastern dance, but the audience who has never seen it before. Performances for every occurrence can be arranged, with enough notice. From one five minute dance to a two hour show Zahara al Jinan strives to please.
Individual Biographies
Rozana is the Artistic Director, Choreographer and founder of Zahara and Anwaar al Jinan. Her creative choreographies are a fusion of her extensive background in dance and theatrics. They have been described as fast paced, energetic and exceptionally entertaining. Rozana has a newly released DVD, featuring combinations from one of her most distinctive, award winning choreographies. She is a master with cane, Isis wings, sword and other props. She even teaches her students to play their doumbeks (ME drum) while dancing! Rozana produces at least one student showcase and one major production annually.
Ara has a background in Flamenco dance. This can be seen in her wonderfully feminine yet powerful style. Since she has a knack for noticing the little things, she oversees areas for improvement for Zahara. Ara is also a recognized make up and hair artist whose work has been featured in the Albuquerque Tribune, US Body Painting Festival, and the 2007 Latino Parade, held in New York City. She has recently started a company that creates one of a kind, hand constructed theatrical wigs and masks. Ara is available as an instructor of theatrical and performance make up and hair design.

Fa'iz is a martial artist and an expert in weapons manipulation, specializing in Wushu. He provides weapons instruction to both of Rozana’s troupes, the dance and martial arts community. His abilities are unique because he takes his Martial Arts training and applies it in a theatrical and artistic way to dance. His help was needed to develop Rozana’s award winning cane choreography: Raqs Assaya - Blue Moon. Fa’iz brings powerful possibilities to Jinan and the dance community in general.
